Members and friends of the Bay Village Civic Association toasted summer on Tuesday, July 9. While they enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Bulldog Grille, their thoughts were also on a member of the Village community whose home had recently burned.
The funds from a basket raffle as well as a 50/50 drawing were added to a fund for her benefit. Additionally, the winner of the drawing, Barbara Strick, donated her winning portion back to the fund.
At the cocktail party, the attendees witnessed a presentation of a Certificate of Recognition to Peter Casserly who had served the Village for thirty years as trustee and Deputy Mayor. His help after Sandy was particularly noted with appreciation by BVCA president, Joan Donnison.
Over fifty people attended. Many also continued to discuss their post-Sandy situations. Most are now back in their homes. Some are still waiting for final details to finish their first floors. A few expect to rebuild. It’s been a very long road. The camaraderie and conviviality left everyone feeling better about the future.
